Moments of great emotion last Monday in Genoa, at the Magazzini del Cotone, in the ancient port. Giuseppe Garau, 35, a director from Sassari, specialized in sports documentaries, presented a true story, cruel, tender and poignant at the same time: that of the current Sampdoria center forward Fabio Quagliarella.

The film. The title is "Quagliarella-The Untold Truth". The duration is 90 'and will soon be broadcast on the international platform Mola TV. At the first present, of course, the protagonist Fabio Quagliarella, 38, from Castellammare di Stabia, who at the end of the screening dissolved into a liberating cry. The center forward in his private life has in fact gone through terrible moments, which would have weakened anyone, a victim for years of stalking by those who professed to be his friend. "It was an honor to shoot Fabio's story - explains director Giuseppe Garau - . For years he and his family have been forced to suffer in silence a real persecution by a person close to them, up to his sentence of 4 years and 8 months. After the screening - he continues - his father Vittorio gave me said that only by watching this film you can realize what happened. Fabio's liberating cry at the end of the screening - he concludes - represents the most valid example ".

The long duration of the works. The processing of the documentary film, also due to Covid, lasted about two years. Many testimonies, including those of Alessandro Del Piero and Leonardo Bonucci. Giuseppe Garau, with his first work, "Short stories on Torres", in 2014 won the Guirlande d'Honneur, as best sports documentary. But he also had awards for other works. Now another great success lies ahead for him: that of the story of a good footballer who, despite stalking, became Serie A top scorer at the age of 36.
