The Sardinia Region still stumbles on urban planning. The Constitutional Court rejected the rules of authentic interpretation of the Regional Landscape Plan contained in a law approved in July 2020 and challenged at the end of August by the Government for violation of Article 117 of the Constitution which reserves exclusive competence for environmental protection to the State and the ecosystem, and for violation of the principle of loyal cooperation.

The ruling of the Consulta was highly anticipated by the Region also in view of the drafting of a new urban planning law. "The drafting of the text cannot be separated from the outcome of the appeal promoted by the Government - Quirico Sanna said the same city planning councilor almost six months ago - as soon as the outcome is known and as soon as the state and regional competences are defined , it will be possible to proceed with the definitive drafting of the bill. "Now that the outcome is known, drafting could still take some time. Furthermore, the appeal of the House Plan on which the Council has not yet ruled is closely linked to the appeal against the authentic interpretation.
