Great success in New York for "made in Sardinia" cinema. The films "The Giants" by Bonifacio Angius and "Ariaferma" by Leonardo Di Costanzo (shot inside the former Sassari prison) have received praise and enthusiasm from the American public.

The two films were screened at the Open Roads - The new Italian cinema at Lincoln Center , in the presence of the protagonists, Stefano Deffenu and Michele Manca .

Dan Sullivan, programmer and chief of the prestigious New York festival, presented to the American press the achievements of the new Sardinian cinema which, thanks to the strong support action of the Sardegna Film Commission (Fsfc), is bringing our island back to the center of international productions.

"Sardinia is a wonderful open-air set - commented Gianluca Aste, president of the Foundation - Sardinian artists can compare themselves as equals with the best filmmakers in the world. We are very proud".

Nevina Satta, director of the Film Commisson, also expressed great satisfaction for the events organized by the delegation made in Sardinia and for the meetings with the North American producers invited by Cinecittà and hosted by the Film Commission for the New York appointments.

The review will close with a tribute to Monica Vitti , who recently passed away, with the screening of Deserto Rosso. This too is a small transversal homage to Sardinia , where the evocative and unforgettable images of Michelangelo Antonioni's masterpiece were shot.
