The casizolu from the Brau Farm company in Orotelli enters the top 10 of Italian stretched curds and earns the final at the "Cheese Awards 2024", which will take place in Ancona in November.

Sardinian excellence thus gathers another consensus, not only on the island but also beyond the regional borders.

Among the characteristics of cow's milk cheese, the unique flavors of the raw material that comes from the hills of central Sardinia and which is processed by the company led by Antonello Brau.

The competition was divided into 10 categories and Brau Farm's casizolu was present in the one dedicated to "pasta filata" cheeses. The nominations were assigned by the vote of the public tasting, on the occasion of Formaggio in Villa 2024 at the Torresino Church in Cittadella, added to the judgment of the Award editorial team. The final will be held on November 10th in Ancona.

«We are very happy with this first result obtained because it means having done a good job with our casizolu which was highly appreciated by the jury - underlines Antonello Brau - we were compared with many quality cheeses from all over Italy and having achieved this first objective at the competition represents a source of pride for all of us - adds the representative of the partner company Coldiretti - for us it is important to be present at these events because our presence here is part of the path we carry out for the promotion of our products in the events national and international», continues Brau.

The Orotelli company works according to tradition and produces high-quality cheeses, overcoming a thousand difficulties. «Our family has a long tradition in the sector even if we launched this company in 2019 - recalls Brau - unfortunately Covid put us in difficulty but we never gave up and today we are reaping the fruits. We process pecorino and cow's milk all year round with our animals that graze freely in our territory - he concludes - this strong point is reflected in the cheeses which have a particular flavor of our pastures".

«This result confirms the great quality of our dairy production on the national scene and confirms the skill of our breeding companies in knowing how to produce cheeses with a unique flavor - comments Leonardo Salis, president of Coldiretti Nuoro-Ogliastra - we are talking about companies that in many cases open and they close the supply chain, raising the animals in our splendid pastures, transforming the milk and obtaining a high-quality finished product that is highly appreciated throughout the world." The credit for this, adds the Coldiretti Nuoro-Ogliastra director, Alessandro Serra, «goes to the many companies, small and large, in our territory which, despite a thousand difficulties, manage to pass on the tradition of processing some of our typical products by bringing them to important stages at the nationally and internationally - he underlines - being able to make our products rich in history and which tell the story of the territory appreciated by the general public, in such important contexts, is a winning weapon for the growth path of our companies in the markets".
