Doctor, numismatist and bibliophile, between the 1950s and 1960s Gavino Perantoni Satta dedicated himself with great commitment to the reorganization of the municipal library. The city of Sassari pays him due homage by naming the local documentation room of the central library in Piazza Tola after him. The ceremony will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 4.30pm.

The evening will open with the mayor Nanni Campus and the councilor for culture Virginia Orunesu who will unveil the plaque naming the eclectic intellectual. After the ceremony, we will move to the conference room for an evening dedicated to the numerous passions cultivated by Gavino Perantoni Satta, with interventions by experts and video contributions. His nephew Federico Marras Perantoni will introduce and moderate the contributions of the speakers who will talk about the figure of Gavino Perantoni by analyzing his different facets.

The manager of the municipal library system, Maria Antonietta Ruiu, will remember the great effort dedicated to reorganizing the library when it was just a dusty warehouse of books; Enrico Piras and Mario Perantoni will recall his passion and the great contribution given to Sardinian numismatics; Antonello Mattone will outline his intellectual profile. His human qualities will instead be remembered by his friend Aldo Flore and his daughter Giuseppina, also a bibliophile, who donated around 300 volumes and various folders of handwritten and typed notes to the library.
