Green light from the municipal council at the entrance to the Asinara National Park within the national strategy for inland areas and the construction activities of the single development strategy of the 35 municipalities of the smaller islands. The proposal comes from the Ancim, the National Association of Minors Only Municipalities, of which Porto Torres is a member, which represents 35 entities where 200 thousand people reside, which, in the summer season, become millions. The aim is to improve the organization of services for the permanent and temporary inhabitants of these islands, with particular attention to education, health and transport services.

The proposal had been presented in the Asinara commission by the councilor Claudio Piras and today unanimously approved by the city council. "This represents an opportunity to network with other national realities experiencing the same difficulties - said the mayor Massimo Mulas - even if Asinara is unique in that it has only one resident and about 100 thousand visitors a year". The strategy will be developed with the method of co-planning and the active participation of local communities. The territory of Porto Torres is made up for about fifty percent by the entire park island and by the smaller islets, included within the distance of one kilometer from the coast line, with the exception of the Piana island. The project was created to recognize the specificity of the smaller islands, which ask for a different treatment due to the different cost of essential and financial services. Furthermore, according to Ancim, measures that allow us to get out of a condition of mere seasonal development deserve.
