Coffee, bread, flour, bakery products, sweets, pasta and oil are undergoing tremendous pressure to rise in prices, with important consequences for baristas and restaurateurs and reports of generalized and indiscriminate increases also in Sardinia.

The president of Fipe Confcommercio Sud Sardegna, Emanuele Frongia, therefore joins the appeal of the deputy vice president of Fipe-Confcommercio Aldo Cursano who asks for the establishment of a monitoring table at Mise together with all the components of the supply chain.

"The alarm went off for days on the rise in the price of bread and pasta, in October we saw a rise in prices of up to 81% for flour - explains Frongia - this is a damage for us and for our customers" .

Frongia speaks of a "dangerous price escalation that also puts production at risk in view of the Christmas holidays, some raw materials are also difficult to find".

In Sardinia, compared to almost all the rest of Italy, there is also the problem of transport. "We thought we could start breathing in view of Christmas, but for our category this is yet another sting in the space of two years which adds to the energy price increases", the comment of the trade association.

According to an estimate by Fipe Confcommercio, the price of coffee could reach 1.50 euros, it could touch two euros for a cappuccino which together with the croissant would go from an average of 2.40 euros today to 3 or 4 euros.
