The "anti-inflation quarter" begins tomorrow, Sunday 1 October, an initiative of the Government which will end on 31 December and which has the aim of containing the increase in the prices of basic necessities, food and non-food, including those in the shopping cart.

From pasta to coffee, from soaps to baby diapers, but also pet food or toilet paper, there are many products that will end up in the basket. In some cases, there is no shortage of wine, aperitifs and chips. And there are also offers on high-end goods such as organic, health or fair trade products.

The pact signed at Palazzo Chigi with the trade and distribution associations provides for "total freedom", refers in general to basic necessities, food and non-food consumer goods, including products for children and personal care .

Each company can decline the discounts in its own way: there are over 1200 items regulated by Coop, over 900 by Carrefour, over 600 by Conad and over 300 by Despar. To these will be added extraordinary initiatives and special promotions. From initial reports, a common element of the offers is that they will primarily concern the retailer's own-brand products . Promotional campaigns will focus on these items, waiting for the big brands to decide whether and how to participate.

The shops participating in the initiative are easily recognizable by the use of the Government's tricolor logo with the words "anti-inflation quarter" .

The complete list of businesses participating in the initiative was published yesterday on the website of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy: not only large chains, but also small neighborhood shops.
