Not all words survive use. Some wear out, becoming slogans, others lose their meaning. And then there are those that return to being instruments of thought, of freedom, of struggle. It is to these words that Bookolica dedicates its eighth edition, scheduled for September 5th to 7th in Tempio Pausania, Gallura.
"Who controls words, controls the world?" asks the festival of creative readers, drawing inspiration from Orwell's 1984. A question that calls for listening, discussion, and imagination. And that translates into three days of meetings, performances, masterclasses, music, and workshops, among the city's historic squares and the paths of Limbara Park, where art and nature meet thanks to the Organica environmental museum.
Once again, Fulvio Accogli, together with the BottegaNomade association, is directing the festival, with a project that brings together literature, activism, journalism, theater, and new narratives. All intertwined by the question: who has the right to speak today? Who decides what is true? And what words have we lost, forgotten, or censored?
Among the most anticipated guests is Sigfrido Ranucci, who on Saturday, September 7th, will present "La scelta," a journey through investigative journalism, ethics, and power. He will also be joined by Giacomo Salvini of il Fatto Quotidiano, author of "I ragazzi che voluto fare la rivoluzione," dedicated to the generation of social centers and the language of political activism between the 1990s and today.
And then sport, as a narrative form and a mirror of society: Giulio Di Feo, a columnist for La Gazzetta dello Sport, will offer a reflection on how sports storytelling contributes to building shared imaginations, identities, and languages.
The festival opens, symbolically, on the move, with an immersive performance that begins in Tempio and ends at Organica, the environmental art museum in the Limbara forest. The site will also host art workshops, poetry gatherings, and site-specific installations, in a continuous dialogue between words and landscape.
There will also be plenty of opportunities for learning, with free masterclasses for young artists, authors, and creatives, and events for children and families.
