The confrontation of the trade unions with the government is underway.

At Palazzo Chigi the representatives of CGIL, CISL and UIL meet Prime Minister Mario Draghi, Minister of Labor Andrea Orlando and that of the Public Administration Renato Brunetta.

There are many topics on the agenda: in addition to that of health and safety in the workplace, considered a priority, the investments of the National Resilience Recovery Plan, the end of the freeze on layoffs and the reforms under discussion, including that of social safety nets and policies active, tax and pensions.

There will also be many issues on the table, which will fall within the next Budget Law and which - this is the position of the trade unions - must be addressed with a very tight timing, so that there is the possibility of a "real" confrontation, of a chapter discussion. by chapter and not a "simple" information from the government on decisions already taken, as explained by the general secretary of the CGIL, Maurizio Landini on the eve of the meeting.

The leaders of CISL and UIL agree with him: Luigi Sbarra asks for a "structural confrontation", while Pierpaolo Bombardieri remarks that he is "ready and immediately" to sit down at the table.

"I expect that tomorrow evening the Prime Minister will indicate a precise calendar" of upcoming meetings, said Landini, also hoping to obtain immediate answers: in the absence, he says he is ready to mobilize.

The discussion on the minimum wage also remains open, supported by the Democratic Party-M5s-Leu axis, on which trade unions and Confindustria agree that it should be defined in contracts and not by law: "We have the same position, we are to strengthen bargaining because it guarantees everyone, and the example comes from Ita ", declared the president of industrialists, Carlo Bonomi.

The minimum threshold could be around 9 euros per hour.

Meanwhile, the CGIL relaunches the proposal for a law on representation, against pirate contracts and for the erga omnes effectiveness of national contracts signed by the most representative unions.

However, the hypothesis does not find the side of CISL and UIL, for which the main road remains that of agreements and the autonomy of the parties.
