«The ruling on the Super League? It will be ridden by those who want it. However, the fans will decide whether it is right or wrong. Whether to follow that path by going to watch the matches or not."

This is the opinion of Cagliari coach Claudio Ranieri , asked at a press conference on the ruling of the Court of Justice which "rejected" the UEFA monopoly on football competitions, effectively opening up new continental tournaments.

On this point, Ranieri added: «If the Super League manages to establish itself, it is not known whether we will see good or bad matches. But the beauty of all competitions is to move forward on sporting merit. However, I don't necessarily want to be against it: the fans will judge and decide whether they want to see those matches or others that are based on sporting merit and the rankings ."

Meanwhile, Italian clubs are also starting to take a stand. Among the first is Inter, which has expressed "loyalty" to the traditional system under the aegis of UEFA and FIFA. "FC Internazionale Milano reiterates its belief that the future of European football can only be guaranteed by collaboration between clubs within the ECA and in partnership with UEFA and FIFA" , explains the Nerazzurri club in a statement. «As a club, we remain strongly anchored to the values that characterize the European sporting model and we are committed to working together with all the other teams brought together in association by the ECA to support these values».

Roma are on the same wavelength and «reiterate that they do not support in any way any so-called Super League project which would represent an unacceptable attack on the importance of national championships and the foundations of European football» .

Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of Napoli, would instead be ready to participate in a "dialogue" with other major European clubs to build the project together. The president of the Neapolitan club has stated several times that he is in favor of a Super League

as an alternative tournament with meritocratic criteria.
