Sulcis disputes, new Region-Government meeting at Mimit: «Unity of purpose to face the crisis»
An hour and a half of discussion with Minister Urso in view of the Sider Alloys, Portovesme and Eurallumina tables next week

The Sulcis roundtable took place this morning at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy (Mimit) in Rome , with the participation of the Councillor for Industry of the Sardinia Region, Emanuele Cani , the Minister for Economic Development, Adolfo Urso , the Undersecretary Fausta Bergamotto together with government technicians and consultants.
An hour and a half of discussion in which the progress of the Sider Alloys, Portovesme Srl and Eurallumina disputes were addressed, with priority on the future employment of direct and indirect workers of the industrial hub.
"The meeting was preparatory to the three specific tables convened in the coming weeks - specifies the councilor Emanuele Cani - and positively highlighted unity of purpose and good collaboration with the minister Urso and with the government in addressing the crises ".
NEXT STEPS – The calendar includes the first table on Monday 20 for Eurallumina . In this regard, Councilor Cani illustrated the progress made with respect to the Energy Supply Plan, in particular the imminent modification of the Dpcm on which President Alessandra Todde has requested an urgent meeting with Minister Picchetto Fratin.
On Thursday 30th it will be the turn of the Sider Alloys table where the long-standing delays of the current owners and the risks that equipment and parts of the former Alcoa production lines will be dismantled from the site have led in recent days to a picket of the workers themselves . The Sardinia Region and the government have agreed that this situation is no longer sustainable and that it is necessary to evaluate immediate solutions in preparation for the planned meeting.
Finally, on Wednesday 5th February the table on Portovesme Srl is scheduled and after the company a few weeks ago unilaterally decided to close the zinc line early . Production that, in agreement with the Region, Minister Urso has defined as strategic promising shortly discussions with investors interested in the acquisition of the entire plant.
"The unions will be called shortly for a detailed briefing on the outcome of the meeting," said Councilor Cani.
