Suitable areas, Sardinian mayors against. Todde: «Land consumption will be minimal»
Meetings in the territories began yesterday, with stops in Olbia and Sassari. The tricolor bands stuck on the “no” front: «Unacceptable proposals from the Council»Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
It was supposed to be an opportunity for clarifications and reassurances , with the mayors called together by the Region to take stock of the suitable areas . Instead, first in Sassari and then in Olbia, it ended up that Alessandra Todde – accompanied by the assessors Francesco Spanedda (Urban Planning) and Emanuele Cani (Industry) – promised but was not convinced . «The 6.2 gigawatts to be installed between now and 2023 are an unacceptable proposal , even in the watered-down version that the Council conveys when it ensures environmental protection and landscape safeguarding», thunders the “no” front of the tricolor bands .
Yes, the narrative made by the Council is one of the elements that most struck the mayors. In Sassari, Spanedda even invited the mayors "not to call them suitable areas", because it would be reductive, given that the Regional Plan will also include the "ordinary and restricted" ones. And if Todde spoke of a "beautiful discussion" and said that "Sardinia will no longer be trampled", Cani doubled the dose of reassurance by labeling "local representatives as protagonists of the energy future".
At the summits between the Region and the Municipalities, the spotlights of the Committees are turned on. «The Sardinian mayors should be sentinels protecting their communities and not podestàs representing external interests», says Cristiano Sabino, of Sa Domu de Tottus. Maria Grazia Demontis, from Gallura, also points the finger at «the local administrators who do not oppose the devastation, because they are not acting in the interests of the Sardinians».
