In the seventeenth century it was the convent of the Observant Friars Minor, in Sorso, then a part of the building was destined for the Carabinieri barracks. Then the structure was abandoned. Now there is the green light and regional funding (900 thousand euros) for the redevelopment and enhancement of the building in piazza Marginesu through a reorganization of the internal spaces that will transform it into a multifunctional center, experiential museum and Polo del Gusto, which will lend itself to an extremely versatile use, with five multifunctional areas: the area dedicated to study, research and dissemination; the area dedicated to the experiential museum of Agriculture; the didactic and laboratory area; the administrative area and the commercial and recreational area.

The building, located in the historic center of Sorso, consists of two floors of approximately 479 square meters each, plus the 62 square meter garage and the internal courtyard, for a total gross surface area of 1020 square meters.

With the first tranche of works, the provisions of lots I and II will be implemented with resources arriving in the municipal coffers directly from the Sardinia Region (Local Authorities Department and Public Works Department) for a total amount of 900 thousand euros.

Mayor Fabrizio Demelas explains: "The Center will become a pivotal place in the promotion of the territory, its resources and its cultural and identity attractions, a privileged site for the realization of initiatives related to rural and experiential tourism, culture and peasant civilization in function of a new model of economic development of the territory. This intervention, combined with that for the redevelopment of the squares, is the result of an intense commitment by the municipal administration together with the regional and municipal councilor Antonello Peru who managed to find the regional funds necessary to carry out the work ".
