Jannik Sinner beats Arthur Fils and reaches the final in Madrid . The South Tyrolean raises his game as the final stages of the tournament approach, defeating the Frenchman, ranked 25th but fourth in the 2026 race, in a remarkable run of form, 6-2, 6-4 in less than an hour and a half.
The Italian immediately took the lead in the first set, going from 1-all to 5-1 in a flash, before closing out the match 6-2. The second set was more closely contested, with Jannik, however, failing to concede any break points and breaking his opponent's serve in the ninth game, with the score tied at 4-4.
Sinner thus achieved his 22nd consecutive victory, the 27th considering only the Masters 1000. With the victory in Madrid, he reached the final of all 14 major tournaments (the four Slams, the nine 1000s, the Finals and the Davis Cup), a feat previously achieved only by Djokovic, Federer and Nadal . He is the youngest to have achieved this milestone, at 24 years and 9 months.
By winning the final act on Sunday (he will challenge the winner of the Zverev-Blockx match), he would conquer at least his 12th of 14 “big titles”; he would only be missing Rome and Roland Garros. Furthermore, with his fifth consecutive 1000 title, he would surpass Novak Djokovic's record of four .
