A wide selection of songs from Franz Lehár's The Merry Widow conducted by Cristiano De Monte with a pair of young and established soloists, the soprano Elena Schirru from Cagliari and the tenor Valerio Borgioni from Rome, will be featured in the concert "Note d'argento - il Lirico per la grande età" (Silver Notes - The Opera for the Elderly), scheduled for Saturday, January 17, at 5 pm at the Carmen Melis.
The event, presented by the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, part of the Rotte Sonore series, is reserved for residents of retirement homes, clubs, associations, and members of the University of Leisure, also giving them the right of first refusal on site. Elena Schirru has already been praised by Cagliari audiences in several performances, including Rossini's Petite Messe solennelle in 2018; Nicola Campogrande's Le felicità, conducted by Gérard Korsten in 2018; and Zerlina in Mozart's Don Giovanni, again conducted by Korsten and directed by Giorgio Strehler in 2019.
Valerio Borgioni is known in Cagliari for playing Tonio in La fille du régiment in 2021. The show has a total running time of about 45 minutes and does not include an interval.
