Once again this year Siligo was the stage for the Maria Carta Award, now in its twenty-first edition, which saw women as protagonists.

The Prize is awarded to the Neapolitan singer-songwriter Teresa De Sio. «I am very honored that the Foundation thought of me for an award that bears the name of the one who was the greatest voice in Sardinia. I am satisfied and at the same time flattered, I hope to be up to it. Maria Carta represents a vocation, which has also been mine for a long time, that is to try to make music linked to the territory, to the roots, to carry forward a tradition that is something that walks with us», said De Sio.

«The Prize has grown year after year. Once again we have curated an event full of highly prestigious artistic proposals, flanked by guests from the island's musical scene - commented the president of the Maria Carta Foundation, Leonardo Marras -. We at the Maria Carta Foundation are above all promoters of debate. We have been doing this since 2017 with "Freemmos", the project dedicated to the theme of depopulation, and shortly, from 8 to 10 October next, with the initiative "Navigantes - The ship of identity", we will bring out of our island, in particular in Barcelona, the costumes, together with the masks, sounds and songs of Sardinia. Because our identity heritage must be valued and we do it in the name of Maria Carta, a great interpreter of Sardinian identity, known throughout the world».
