The wines of Sardinia and Gallura continue to win success. With an unprecedented triumph for Italian wine: Siddùra is the only winery in Italy to win three platinum medals at the 2025 edition of the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), the most authoritative wine competition in the world. On the international podium Maìa, Vermentino di Gallura DOCG Superiore, Èrema, Cannonau di Sardegna DOC, and Nùali, Passito di Moscato, all awarded with 97 points out of 100, the score needed to enter the Olympus of world wine.
"Of over 18,000 wines competing from 57 countries, and 30 total platinum medals awarded to Italian wines, three are signed Siddùra: an absolute record for an Italian winery and a confirmation of the level of excellence achieved by the Gallura estate," reads a press release from the company.
The Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), now in its 22nd year, involved 248 international experts, including 72 Masters of Wine and 22 Master Sommeliers, the highest number in the history of the competition. The wines were tasted strictly blind and evaluated exclusively on quality.
“Winning a Platinum award at DWWA can literally change a producer’s life,” said Tim Marson, Master of Wine and judge of the competition . “A DWWA medal on a bottle,” the competition’s official website reports, “means that the wine was selected from thousands by a top-notch panel of judges.”
Behind every great achievement, there is a story of passion and dedication. Mattia Piludu, general manager of Siddùra, underlines the profound impact of this success: «These three platinum medals are the result of years of commitment and tireless work. A result that rewards our vision: to enhance the native vines of Sardinia through a continuous search for quality, from the vineyard to the bottle. Bringing three wines so different from each other, but united by quality, to the podium is a very strong signal ».
Next to him, Massimiliano Farci, commercial director, underlines the strategic importance of this recognition : «Being awarded by a competition like the DWWA means being recognized among the best in the world by an elite jury. This opens up new scenarios for us in international markets and confirms the strength of our project: exporting Sardinian excellence to the world».
Siddùra's winemaker, Dino Dini, gets to the heart of the quality process: «We have worked on all the wines in the range since the beginning. Grapes are a product of nature and are the result of a year of work by many people, which is why we must respect them, only in this way can we bring out the best in every single vineyard and every single wine. Maìa exudes freshness and minerality, Èrema is a Cannonau faithful to its roots, while Nùali is pure aromatic expression. The Platinum at DWWA is the maximum confirmation that our approach is bearing fruit».
With this historic achievement, Siddùra confirms itself as an ambassador of Italian wine excellence in the world, capable of bringing the voice and strength of Sardinia to the most important international stages.
