“ Puck's List - B-Sides of A Midsummer Night's Dream ”: the title of the show written and directed by Nicolò Columbano says it all.
On stage tomorrow in Arzachena , starting at 9 pm at the archaeological site of Nuraghe Albucciu, the play offers a reinterpretation of William Shakespeare's classic , focusing on the protagonists' "B-sides" and exploring what usually remains on the margins of the text of the great English playwright and poet.
After the appointment with Lina Sastri, the summer season curated by Deamater, dedicated to the "geography of desire," continues with an original production, in which Columbano, co-founder of Deamater, brings Shakespeare's story to the stage, transporting it to a context characterized by the pop-disco atmosphere of the '80s and '90s.
In exploring the neuroses and human impulses of the protagonists—played by Giovanni Scanu, Anastasia Castagno, and Caterina Pietronudo—the musical aesthetic is not a mere stage flourish, but a magnifying glass to highlight the opera's ironic and cruel short circuits. Mastering this dancefloor of feelings is a new Puck, who acts as master of ceremonies, mixing and sampling the characters' destinies and deceptions in a tense dialogue between classical opera and the influences of contemporary clubbing.
The event, with paid admission, is supported by the Municipality of Arzachena and the Fondazione di Sardegna.
