Here it is, the great opportunity he was waiting for. Giuseppe Collu , a 33-year-old from Cagliari, will be the second Sardinian referee in the history of Serie A. The island whistle has been designated for Hellas Verona-Monza , a match valid for the eleventh day of the championship, which will be played on Sunday at 12.30.
The referee was promoted to the Serie A match officials over the summer, after four Serie B matches managed positively in the last year. Now the first designation: he will be assisted by Passeri and Costanzo, the fourth official will be Maresca and at the Var there will be Meraviglia with Irrati.
He will thus become the second Sardinian to blow the whistle in Serie A: the first Antono Giua , who made his debut at the highest level on 24 February 2018 in Bologna-Genoa 2-0. From then on, another 45 games as first referee in the championship.
