Eighteen points in twenty-four games and a crisis of results for Cagliari, fresh from four consecutive defeats. Yet the rossoblù remain in contact with the safety zone, just one point away. “Credit”, or fault, of a Serie A that is progressing slowly, especially in the lower parts of the table. Or at least that's what they said. But the reality of the facts is - partly - different.

Today, in fact, Cagliari is in penultimate place, ahead of Salernitana with 13 points. Third last (Verona) and fourth last (Udinese) are level on points with nineteen points won (and the Friulians, seventeenth, have one game less played). In front of them, Sassuolo with 20 and Empoli with 21.

Last year, on the twenty-fourth matchday, Sampdoria finished the table with 11 points. In nineteenth place, however, was Cremonese with 12, six points less than Cagliari. But even the third-to-last team had fewer points: it was still Verona , with 17. Seventeenth-placed Spezia had one more than Udinese, but with one more play (even if the Bianconeri's missing match is prohibitive, the away match against Juventus ).

The situation changes from the sixteenth position, where instead the spoils at the twenty-fourth were actually higher. There is a four-point difference between the sixteenth of 2022-23, Salernitana with 24, and that of the current championship, Sassuolo with 20, and even six between the fifteenth, Sassuolo with 27 and Empoli with 21.
