The Minister of Education does not listen to the Regions on school sizing. "The Government has put up a wall - explained this morning the councilor Ilaria Portas heard in the Culture commission of the Regional Council - this is a blackmail made to the Regions: if we adapt we will have rewards, otherwise we will be punished? It is yet another slap in the face to the Regions that should have a say in the matter".
The Education Councilor refers to the latest decree on sizing brought to the Council of Ministers by Giuseppe Valditara, which the Region is "ready to challenge". A provision that "gives bonuses in terms of vice-principals, ATA staff, number of students in classes but only to the Regions that adapt to the parameters. We say no".
The ministry for this year asked for the merger of nine school autonomies. "We asked that these parameters be reviewed - Portas recalled - and we did not size on the basis of the ministry's requests. We sought a discussion but there were no openings".
