Sassari: the Tavolara Pavilion reopens on 20 December, 25 years after the last biennial
The Nivola Foundation has the scientific direction: «Synergy between craftsmanship, art and design»"A Christmas present to the city." So said the mayor of Sassari Nanni Campus in announcing the reopening of the Tavolara Pavilion. The appointment is for December 20 at 11 and in the afternoon to the public.
An opening with ready-made events is guaranteed: on the first floor an exhibition with Sardinian artists and designers curated by the Nivola Foundation, which has signed the agreement for the scientific direction and setting up of the exhibitions, while the space on the ground floor will be set up by Confartigianato in the so-called " Salone delle botteghe ".
The idea is to have exhibitions lasting a few months which will be accompanied by the permanent one dedicated to the historical collection of the island, the body that also managed the Sardinian biennial of craftsmanship and design. Collection currently undergoing restoration by the Region of Sardinia, owner of the structure designed in the mid-1950s by architect Ubaldo Badas.
The Municipality of Sassari has until 2030 the management on free loan of the Tavolara Pavilion dedicated to the sculptor Eugenio Tavolara.
The terrace will also be open in the coming months.
The press conference was attended by the councilor for Heritage Rosanna Arru and the councilor for Culture Laura Useri, Giuliana Altea, president of the Nivola Foundation, Antonella Camarda co-curator of the exhibition that will animate part of the Pavilion, and Marco Rau, president of Confartigianato Imprese Sassari, for the other area of the Pavilion.
