A plaque to commemorate the historian and intellectual Manlio Brigaglia will be placed in the conference room of the Municipal Historical Archive of Sassari, in via dell'Insinuazione.

The ceremony this morning together with the meeting "The City of Sassari for Manlio Brigaglia", who died in May 2018.

After the greetings of Mayor Nanni Campus , Carla Merella, responsible for the Municipal Historical Archive, Monica Grossi, Superintendent of Archives for Sardinia, Giuseppina Fois, Antonello Mattone, curators of the reorganization of the personal archive of Manlio Brigaglia and Simonetta Castia, publisher Mediando, took part.

A year ago, the personal archive of Manlio Brigaglia, donated by his wife Marisa Brigaglia Buonajuto , was acquired by the municipal historical archive.

It consists of 107 folders and an oil portrait of the historian and writer from Sassari by Franco Farina . These documents have an important value for the study of the civil and cultural history of the city of Sassari and of Sardinia in general.

The papers concern the years after World War II, memoirs and documents on anti-fascism in Sardinia, papers relating to the University of Sassari in the seventies and eighties of the twentieth century, documents on the relationship between Brigaglia and Antonio Pigliaru and the magazine Ichnusa, papers on the publishing and journalism of Brigaglia from the 1950s onwards, texts of conferences and articles (many probably unpublished), literary and historical texts sent to Brigaglia by numerous authors, miscellaneous material, correspondence and documents on teaching in high school.
