Sassari, the Auser project for immigrant literacy begins
There are 25 participants and they come from Africa and Asia
25 people, mainly young people, who come from Senegal, Nigeria, Mali and Bangladesh, signed up for the course. Six are women, which is not so obvious in this type of training.
The project of the Auser of Sassari aimed at creating a short literacy course in the Italian language to give the first rudiments of the spoken and written language to those who have arrived from places with different languages and have to navigate everyday life is already a success. in the host country and often has never learned to write and read in any of the "colonial" languages, English or French.
The course is completely free for participants who have received the teaching material and everything necessary for attendance. The project involved teachers, volunteers, and the associations Friends of Senegal, CLIC-Circolo delle lingua, delle informazione e delle culture and obtained the support of the Sardinia Foundation.
The Auser association wanted to open a new area of social intervention with the literacy course for immigrants and did so in the neighborhood where, in recent months, the headquarters were moved to via Monache Cappuccine, in the heart of the historic centre.
