Marco Spissu has been confirmed for the national team. The Sassari point guard is among the 18 players called up by coach Gianmarco Pozzecco. He has chosen the Azzurri for the Training Camp, which will take place in Folgaria (Trento) from July 23rd to 31st, and for the Trentino Basket Cup (August 2nd-3rd). These events will serve as preparation for the FIBA EuroBasket, which opens on August 28th in the Cyprus group.
Spissu also shone in the Liga ACB with Zaragoza. His former Dinamo teammate, Achille Polonara, was also called up . This is a symbolic call-up to reaffirm Polonara's place in the Azzurri squad, as the Virtus Bologna forward is undergoing treatment for leukemia .
The new addition is the call-up of guard Donte Di Vincenzo (Minnesota Timberwolves), who will join the group on July 30, as will Simone Fontecchio (Miami Heat).
