An international event that attracts 350 people from 40 different countries including academics, politicians, researchers, professionals and students.

The eleventh international conference of the European Forum for Restorative Justice will start tomorrow in Sassari (Scuola San Donato), which will experience its highlight on Thursday (the presence of the Minister of Justice Marta Cartabia is expected), Friday and Saturday.

The idea behind restorative justice is not to replace criminal justice, but to focus on those who have suffered the damage (sexual violence or other crime) through meetings with the perpetrator, mediated by specialized people.

As explained in the conference held in the Aula Magna Patrizia Patrizi , of the Team of Restorative Practices of the University of Sassari: "The aim is to restore right relationships, to undo injustice through dialogue , giving back the word to the protagonists, to the victim and to the offender, with benefits for both. The emphasis is on the damage caused that goes beyond the crime because it affects the victim's life and social relationships ”.

At the press conference were present the rector of the Sassari university Gavino Mariotti , the Brazilian Edit Torzs , of the European Forum, and Marie Keenan of the University of Dublin.

Thursday at 9 am the opening of the European Forum at the Canepa Conservatory of Sassari , which will host most of the international conference. At 9.30 the intervention of Minister Cartabia.

Saturday afternoon starting at 2 pm visit of a representative of the Forum to Tempio and to the prison of Nurchis, the first "restorative city" in Italy, while other representatives will go to Nuoro, to the meeting in Sassari with the professionals of juvenile justice and to the public dialogue "The Polarity Party".
