A painless farewell. It is that of Gianfranco Meazza, former deputy mayor and councilor for social services of the Municipality of Sassari who presented his resignation yesterday .

«The mayor asked me to hand over the powers», explains Meazza, a lawyer by profession, and known as one of the loyalists of the mayor Nanni Campus since his first mandate, in 2000, at Palazzo Ducale. The decision was triggered by Meazza's participation in the presentation of the candidacy for the regional elections by Francesca Masala , among other things a former member of the council who resigned a few weeks ago.

"It seems absurd to me - says Meazza - that you can't appreciate a person you respect in public." But Campus had given "prescriptions" to his councillors, as the former deputy mayor defines them, effectively prohibiting active participation in the various electoral campaign events .

"The veto was on party membership, but I wasn't there to support a political formation but only as an invitee." The presence of the lawyer, however, was judged inappropriate: "It seems like an exaggeration to me - declares Meazza - but for reasons of fairness I left the position".

But the same Campus was spotted at two electoral events, and Meazza points it out. " It seems to me that there are double standards, given that he participated in the front row at the presentations of the gubernatorial candidate Paolo Truzzu and Antonello Peru with Sardegna al Centro 2020. "

The divorce would have taken place "in a polite way": "But we need to listen more, even in dissent you can find a meeting point." «Excess rigor» therefore that of Campus which exposed «a different vision of things» between the two politicians. And Meazza, upon leaving, recalls the results of almost 5 years of council work: «I gave a valuable contribution with, for example, works such as the Pinqua and those for hydrogeological risk, when I was councilor for Infrastructure and Mobility, and in the last assignment with social commitment. I want to thank the structures." On a future political adventure, the next municipal elections are scheduled in four months, Gianfranco Meazza does not comment. In the meantime he has been replaced as deputy mayor by Antonello Sassu, councilor for the environment and, rumor has it, a possible candidate for the mayor's seat .
