Sartiglia of Oristano: blessing for horses and riders

A Piazza Sant'Efisio packed more than ever welcomed the blessing of the horses and riders of the Sartiglia.
Holy water, the sign of the cross and an image of the Virgin to be jealously guarded. Sacred symbols that have always been intertwined with the more goliardic aspect of the Sartiglia.
Immediately after the mass, the thirty-nine trios that will make up the procession next Sunday and Tuesday lined up to receive the blessing from the parish priest, Don Alessandro Floris.
The first to receive the traditional greeting was Marta Frau, the horsewoman who will take on the role of Eleonora d'Arborea, then it was the turn of the pairs of the two Componidoris: Danilo Casula who, accompanied by Tore Montisci and Bernardino Ecca, will wear the cylinder for the Farmers, and Giampaolo Mugheddu who together with Gianluca Mugheddu and Francesco Loi will lead the carousel for the guild of San Giuseppe. Following, one after the other, the remaining 111 riders who will make up the procession over the two days.
In the "Su Brugu" district, then, it was the turn of the protagonists of the Sartigliedda : even for the mini knights, led by Lorenzo Carboni and his assistants Luca Piras and Filippo Corona, a blessing rite.
