An alarm on the health situation in Cagliari and throughout the Metropolitan City was launched today during the Regional Council by the opposition. In his speech, Francesco Agus (leader of the Progressives) referred to the surgical departments closed except for the emergency-urgency, to the fact that in the hospitals of the capital and the province there are only two emergency rooms operating 24 hours a day, with positive patients who are hospitalized in the facilities that should be Covid-free.

Two aspects in particular underlined by Agus: the full operation of the Brotzu First Aid and Monserrato Polyclinic alone, "while that of the Holy Trinity, inaugurated with great fanfare on December 24, has never been reopened". For these reasons, "it happens that the crises of the principals of Muravera, Isili, Oristano, San Gavino, of the Sulcis hospitals are discharged on two emergency rooms".

In addition, he added, "all this means that in Covid-free hospitals there are a flood of inpatients who escape the statistics". "We declare 361 Covid patients every day, but there are another 150 who are blatantly ignored in the statistics that are communicated to the ministry every day".

For the councilor of the M5S, Michele Ciusa, "if we are not able to improve the situation and plan the organization, I think we must think about the advisability of resorting to army doctors". And the leader of the LeU group, Eugenio Lai, underlined: "The situation is disastrous due to the choices of the council: the center-right did much worse than those who preceded him, someone explain why 23 doctors of the closed emergency rooms were destined to do other".

According to Piero Comandini, councilor of the Democratic Party, "more than in the interest of the patients, the center-right has thought of putting in place an ideological counter-reform that has nothing functional and efficient and that certainly does not provide for an improvement in the situation of the lists of waiting or access to the emergency room ". Therefore, the conclusion, "today we denounce this blindness put in place during the pandemic war, that of thinking only of placing people close to them in top positions". Agus, finally: "The Board has not yet appointed the general director of Health, so there is no common direction to oversee the emergency".
