Tajikistan, Iran and Italy: three nations with three different religions, three different cultures but a common drug: heroin. "The Brown Heart of Asia" is the title of the documentary by director and producer Cinzia Puggioni which lands on Prime Video.

From Olbia who lives between Rome and Paris, Cinzia Puggioni had already gained attention in various international festivals dedicated to the documentary for " Su Battileddu ", symbol of the Lula carnival, which earned her the prizes in the Babel Film Festival of Cagliari (best author), in the Festival Internacional de Documental Etnográfico de Sobrarbe (Spain) and in the Wave Awards Festival in California (USA).

The Brown Heart of Asia ” is a triptych that talks about stories related to the consumption of eorine . The first part is dedicated to Central Asia: Tajikistan, on the discovery of its geography and social situation and heroin capillarity, and Bam (Iran), through heroin abuse after the earthquake and international trafficking from Afghanistan . The third story instead concerns Italy and the Blue Moon operation, implemented by the Western secret services in the early seventies to spread heroin at extremely low prices with the aim of stopping the protests of young people linked to the growing specter of Italian communism .

Three events that lead to a single question: is heroin a state affair?
