There is no shortage of funds : 40.2 million are available. What is missing are the structures, those community hospitals provided for by ministerial decree 77 of 2022 to strengthen territorial medicine. That is, healthcare close to places of residence, even in the most peripheral centers. But in Sardinia only one so-called Odc is active out of the thirteen provided for through the national resources of the Pnrr.
It was 2022 when the Region cut the ribbon in Ghilarza: twenty beds for treatments defined as "low intensity" , because admission to a community hospital occurs after the stabilization of the patients. That is, the exit from the acute phase, for which the patients are kept under observation before returning home. And they are taken care of by a team made up of doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants, physiotherapists and outpatient specialists.
In the Regional Investment Plan, this is the distribution of Sardinian community hospitals: two are planned in Sassari , one in Ploaghe and the fourth in Ozieri , as far as the north-west of the island is concerned. In Gallura the facilities will open in La Maddalena and Tempio . Two community hospitals also for the ASL 3, in Nuoro and Sorgono . In the Oristano area (ASL 5), in addition to Ghilarza there will also be a facility in Bosa . In Sulcis the community hospital will be activated at Santa Barbara in Iglesias . Two facilities are also planned in Cagliari .
In the background, the “ Bartolazzi case ” remains open: the health councillor risks being fired after his statements on Businco, the oncology hospital in the capital defined as “a hologram” by the member of the council.
