Cinema, culture and paralympic sports meet on Friday 18 April at the Teatro delle Saline in Cagliari. At 6 pm the Gran Galà del Cinema Sardo will take place, an evening organized by the Order of Engineers of Cagliari with the aim of raising funds for the activities promoted by the association Ingegneri Cultura e Sport.

"We strongly believe in the value of solidarity. With ICS we support athletes with disabilities, offering them the opportunity to practice sports such as sailing or canoeing thanks to the purchase of specific equipment" explains Maria Sias , president of the association and the first female engineer in Sardinia. "The dream? One day to reach the Olympic Games".

But the Gala will also be a tribute to the island's cinema, with the screening of two short films by two Sardinian excellences: Ugo Garau, actor and director, will present "Il pescatore" , shot between Cagliari and Quartu and accompanied by the music of Piero Marras; Carolina Melis, internationally renowned designer and illustrator, will bring her animated short "S'Ozzastru" to the theater, eight minutes of poetic and symbolic images. The evening will also be enriched by the voice of Claudia Aru, protagonist of a musical intervention, and the hosting of the journalist Francesca Figus.

"We have chosen two figures who tell the story of Sardinia with different sensibilities and perspectives - continues Sias -. Promoting Sardinian cinema is fundamental: there are many talents who deserve visibility. Too often there is a lack of space, and it is right to create it".

The event, which enjoys the support of sponsors and city entities, therefore wants to unite entertainment and charity, art and civil commitment. "Cagliari always responds with enthusiasm. This pushes us to continue with proposals that unite culture, community and solidarity" concludes Sias.
