«The Municipality of Oristano will continue to carefully monitor environmental issues and oppose any form of speculation harmful to our territory».

The mayor, Massimiliano Sanna, says yes to the consultative referendum to defend the Sardinian landscape and clarifies the role of the body regarding the concession of a plot of land by the Oristano industrial consortium to a company specialized in the production of offshore wind farms .

The issue was raised through an urgent question by the Alternativa Sarda Progetto Sardegna board group. «It is essential to clarify that the installation of these systems in the various territories is evidently not the responsibility of either the Industrial Consortium or the Municipality of Oristano», assures Sanna.

Concept strengthened by the consortium body: «Cipor, within its sphere of competence, has examined the request of the Seawind – Oristano CAP company presented for the concession of a plot of land where to build a production plant for offshore wind farms» .

The industrial unit retraces the stages of an ongoing process which involves the assignment of an area of 68 hectares. «An investment of 380 million euros, with the direct employment of 500 workers plus related activities». The preliminary project was given the green light three months ago, the definitive one will be expressed at the services conference, yet to be convened, then the environmental impact assessment procedure will be started. «The plant - concludes the Authority - must be fully compatible with the urban destination of the area where it will be built and will not be a source of pollution».
