New Year's Eve in Via Roma and flash mobs in the shopping streets. They are afraid that something might move, perhaps hidden by the explosions of the firecrackers. And that from the din of gunfire and celebrations for the arrival of 2025, new wind projects with increasingly taller blades might emerge.

It is not an excess of zeal, that of the permanent garrison of the Sardinian people. Also because from January 7 to 15 the night transport of shovels for the repowering of Villacidro will resume. For now backpacks and tents, to be installed on the granite of the Regional Council Building, are ready for use in the trunk of the car: on Tuesday they will be used for a particular sit-in, the Sveglione.

In the square

The activists will spend New Year's Eve under the Regional Council. Between fireworks and celebrations, they want to send a signal: "Recalling the now famous phrase uttered by Governor Todde, we also don't sleep at night," says Davide Fadda, one of the first members of the Presidio del popolo sardo. "This is why we thought it was necessary to have a Sveglione, so as to raise awareness among the people of Cagliari even on a special day like New Year's Eve."

The program

Along with the representatives of the Presidio of the Sardinian people there will also be representatives of the committees arriving from all over the island: «Be careful, though», continued Fadda. «It will not be a demonstration, we will be a few dozen friends who have chosen to live a moment of joy without forgetting the wind assault that our Sardinia is undergoing, with the silence of politics».
