From November 7th, the shooting of wild boar hybrids using fixed-position rifles will resume in La Maddalena National Park.
The intervention is part of a five-year eradication plan - this is the fourth year - designed to eliminate a "non-native" presence, particularly harmful to flora, without considering the damage to property and the risks to people.
A campaign that has never stopped even in recent months as it is carried out through capture in cages.
The interventions will only concern the islands of Maddalena and Caprera.
For these operations, the mayor of La Maddalena has signed a specific ordinance containing information, requirements, and prohibitions, deemed essential for public safety.
The presence of wild or feral fauna on Caprera has rather negative consequences, as it is excessive compared to the island's surface area. However, this does not only concern wild boars: several colonies of felines and several herds of goats also exist and proliferate on the island, with repercussions on the fauna in the former case and on the flora in the latter.
