The objective is to examine the complex situation of the Casteldoria dam, after the breakage of the bulkhead which effectively inhibited the irrigation distribution to the fields. The meeting will be held tomorrow, Friday 19 April, in Valledoria in the council room of the Town Hall in Corso Europa 76, at 11 am, and will see the presence of the leaders of the Northern Sardinia Reclamation Consortium Toni Stangoni (president) and Giosuè Brundu ( general director) who organized the meeting, including the new regional councilor for Agriculture Gianfranco Satta, the mayors and trade associations.

«The problem arises from a breakage of a bulkhead belonging to the Sardinia Water Authority (Enas) - explains the president of the Consortium Toni Stangoni - which led to the interruption of the water supply service from midnight on Tuesday 26 March until 2 April water resource to the Northern Sardinia Reclamation Consortium. Subsequently, on March 29, a meeting of the Control Room convened by Adis Sardegna was held which was followed by the installation by Enas of three hydraulic pumps to introduce water into the Consortium's pipes".

But the water supplied is still limited, the water emergency continues and we are unable to guarantee the resource necessary to satisfy the numerous requests of the consortium members. «The situation risks worsening – continues Stangoni – in a period characterized by temperatures well above average with part of the summer crops to be planted or already planted».

The farms of the Lower Coghinas Valley represent excellence in Sardinia recognized at a national and international level with approximately 2,500 hectares cultivated with artichokes, potatoes, watermelons, melons, asparagus and vineyards, all crops for which water is of vital importance. «To prevent hundreds of local businesses from succumbing – continues Stangoni – this emergency will have to find a quick solution as soon as possible».
