The conditions of the tourist who was hit by a dinghy yesterday while bathing in Villasimius, in the waters of Campulongu, remain very serious .
The 62-year-old Frenchman underwent surgery to reconstruct his arm and hand and to stop the internal bleeding caused by the impact: he is in a pharmacological coma in the intensive care unit of the Brotzu , kept under constant observation, the prognosis remains reserved.
The driver of the dinghy, a 34-year-old man, was reported to the Cagliari Prosecutor's Office . A necessary act, the hypothesis of the crime is that provided for by article 590 of the penal code: "Whoever negligently causes personal injury to others by violating the rules on road traffic or maritime or inland navigation is punished with imprisonment from three months to one year for serious injuries and from one to three years for very serious injuries". The vessel was seized.
The Coast Guard of Villasimius is still working to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident. The tourist was on board a catamaran about 250 meters from the coast and had dived into the sea for a swim. He is said to have moved away from the vessel by several dozen meters, when he was overwhelmed by the dinghy. The 34-year-old himself dived into the sea to rescue him: he took him on board the vessel and transported him urgently to the small port of Villasimius , where 118 was already waiting for him, having also been called by him.
