A road tragedy occurred just outside Villasimius, on Provincial Road 17 between Capo Boi and Porto Sa Ruxi . Luca Rivera, a 55-year-old real estate agent originally from Piedmont but long-time resident of the Sarrabus area, died after he went off the road while riding his motorcycle in the Is Piscareddus area.

The exact circumstances are still unclear, but initial reports suggest Rivera lost control and fell down a small embankment. The theory being explored is that Rivera attempted to avoid an off-road vehicle that was making a turn, then hit a car and slid down the ridge.

The intervention of 118 was useless. The local police of Villasimius arrived on site to carry out legal investigations.

A team of firefighters from the Cagliari power station also intervened, securing the area.
