Vannacci in Cagliari, anti-fascist garrison: Fair under lockdown
Rally of supporters of the general MEP of the League. Protesters outside. The comment: «Free to protest, I was expecting a storm but there is no wind here»The protest outside, the wait inside. For Roberto Vannacci, the Army general converted to politics, about thirty young people organized a garrison in Cagliari, protected by riot police. On the red chairs of Pavilion D of the Fair, instead, 500 took their places.
The police station had assigned the committee against the League MEP a place in Piazzale dei Centomila. However, the young people first settled on the steps of Bonaria, then reached the Coni square, which gives access to Pavilion D. "Vannacci, be careful, the wind is still whistling," the banner read.
Inside the Fair Hall, in the front rows, the leaders of the League, from the former president of the Regional Council, Michele Pais, to the former honorable Alessandra Zedda.
Also present, representing the Carroccio party, were Alessandro Sorgia, the only person elected to the chamber on Via Roma in this legislature, the former group leader Michele Ennas, and the former senator Lina Lunesu. There were the provincial secretaries of Confcommercio and Confesercenti, Alberto Bertolotti and Roberto Bolognese. From Villasimius, the mayor Gianluca Dessì, a representative of FdI.
"When I arrived here, at the Fair, I expected a storm. I expected a gale and instead there was no wind." This is how, ironically, MEP Vannacci responds to reporters, upon his arrival in Cagliari, on the protest. "How many were out there protesting? I have no idea but there is no wind today . In any case, the freedom to protest is sacrosanct, let them protest," says General Vannacci, "let them do what they want, but I would have expected them inside the room. In a civil manner to come and tell me why they do not agree with my arguments. I always respond to everyone, so much so that I never deny myself to anyone and therefore I am ready to respond to them as well as to anyone else who wants to civilly explain to me the reasons why they do not agree with what I think," he concludes.
