The driver of the tractor-trailer that overturned in the fields adjacent to Provincial Road 2, at kilometer 12.600 in the Uta area, after leaving the carriageway around 11:00 this morning, is not in danger of life.

The driver of the vehicle was promptly rescued by 118 emergency responders and firefighters from the Iglesias detachment. After receiving initial treatment, he was transported to Brotzu Hospital in Cagliari with a red code. The vehicle, which had come from the industrial area, was traveling towards Carbonia with a load of food products destined for supermarkets.

Carabinieri officers from the San Sperate station, supported by their colleagues from the Uta barracks, responded to the scene and carried out investigations to determine the cause of the accident, which is currently unknown.

One possible cause is bad weather; the area is experiencing strong winds that may have caused the large vehicle to skid.

Work is still underway to recover the cargo and remove the tractor-trailer.
