Two latest generation magnetic resonance tomographs are now in operation in the complex radiology facility of the “ Brotzu ” hospital in Cagliari . “The two devices operating in the field of diagnostic imaging were purchased with an investment of approximately two million euros. An operation that is part of a process of technological modernization of hospitals and wider territorial health facilities, already started on the island ”, said the President of the Region, Christian Solinas, who today inaugurated the new machinery.

"In the last three years - continues the President - we have approved and carried out an investment plan for healthcare construction and technological modernization worth 136 million euros and now, through the programming of the NRP, PNC and co-financing of the Region, a total of 293 million euros continue along the path we have traced ”.

Remote-controlled radiology, magnetic resonance, ultrasound and new mammograms, such as the twelve recently purchased by Ares, or the three new linear accelerators for oncological treatments (included in a 10 million euro modernization plan already approved by the Ministry of Health), or the Da Vinci surgical robot, at the San Francesco di Nuoro hospital since 2020 and designed as a function of the school of robotic surgery, are part of the modernization interventions planned and already carried out in Sardinia in recent years.

Solinas then addressed the issue of staff shortages: "In Sardinia there is a health system that works and that we support every day, Arnas is an example, but it is not the only one on the island. alone are not enough, the staff is needed. For too long there has been a lack of turnover coverage and the problem of the programmed number related to the training of doctors has distant roots

There are about 6,000 magnetic resonance examinations that are performed annually at Arnas G. Brotzu, 160,000 in total radiology examinations between the San Michele and Businco hospitals.

"The use of new technologies, not only for magnetic resonance examinations and tomography, is an essential element in the strategy for reducing waiting times", said the regional councilor for health, Mario Nieddu .
