Traffic chaos from the coastal road to Villasimius to the Nuova 554
Long queues for construction sites and one-way trafficPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
A Sunday to forget for those who decided to spend the day at the beach. From around 6 pm, long queues formed along the coast road to Villasimius, from the Terra Mala descent to just past Marina Residence, due to Terna's construction sites and the traffic lights regulating the one-way system. They also formed on the other side, returning from the Sarrabus beaches on the Nuova 554 and Nuova 125, where even late at night people were still walking at a walking pace, even inside the tunnels.
A inferno of wreckage is severely testing drivers returning from the beaches. Things hadn't been any better this morning, with the closure of the Murtineddu tunnel due to a car fire and the usual roadworks on the provincial road. The tunnel closure caused hours of traffic under the scorching sun. The heat forced countless people to flock to the beaches, and as usual, the roads couldn't cope.
Residents of the Flumini and Margine Rosso developments also suffered, as they were used as shortcuts by those trying to avoid queues and traffic.
"This is a situation that has been going on forever," says Antonio Perra, a resident of Via Biora. "Our road can't handle all this traffic, and that's why it's in terrible condition."
