Positive end of the season for the tourism sector in the north-west of Sardinia.
According to data processed by Federalberghi-Confcommercio of the province of Sassari, in September hotel presences increased compared to the same month of 2022. The bed filling index, given by the ratio between the total presences and the total available beds , reached the threshold of 66.6%, up compared to September last year.
Over 9 thousand seasonal arrivals, with more than 25 thousand presences and average stays of almost 3 days.
Arrivals from beyond the Alps were 17 thousand, with almost 57 thousand presences and an average stay of 3.4 days.
The best result was recorded in Alghero , where the occupancy rates reached 71.2% against 62.9% in September 2022. In the rest of the province the occupancy rate of hotel beds reached 58.60%. against 55.73% the previous year.
«Operators in general are satisfied with the performance of the month of September, the only month that recorded growth in the 2023 summer season based on the findings of our Study Center», explains the president of Federalberghi-Confcommercio of the province of Sassari , Stefano Visconti. «This goes against the trend of the rest of the season, which instead totaled, by analyzing the same indices, negative deviations compared to the historical ones».
The Study Center sampled 124,620 beds on a monthly basis between Alghero, Castelsardo, Stintino, Sassari, Porto Torres, Sorso, Valledoria and internal areas.
The only negative data concerns the extra services : the sale of internal catering services to hotels has suffered a setback of over 30% compared to the usual volumes.
