The Genn'e Mari beach in Torre delle Stelle , in the municipality of Maracalagonis, has been given a new look with a powerful nourishment . Since the beginning of this year, the Genn'e Mari beach has seen a progressive, constant increase in sandy sediments on the emerged beach. So much so that already last summer, the beach was much larger than the previous summer.

«Starting from October of this year there has been a further "natural nourishment" which - explained engineer Juri Iurato , of the New Torre delle Stelle association - has resulted in a truly unusual extension of the beach surface. Starting from the frequent and intense sciroccos of 2013, the beach of Genn'e Mari had been hit by intense erosive phenomena which had caused a strong reduction of the beach, particularly in the eastern sector, as made clear by the fact that the cliff began at least 100 m earlier than what we see today."

«Another useful indicator for estimating the increase in sand volumes - added Iurato – is a large boulder about 2 meters high which until the summer of 2022 was in the middle of the water surrounded by rocks: today it emerges only for a few dozen centimeters and is 15-20 meters from the shore." According to some experts, the cause of this drastic reversal of trend is probably to be found in the decline in sirocco events in the last 12 months associated with frequent episodes of strong mistral which probably trigger mechanisms of movement of the sandy sediments from the seabed towards the emerged beach. The beach of Genn'e Mari is among the most beautiful on the entire south-eastern coast of Sardinia.
