Thousands paid their respects to Gaia Costa, the young woman who was the victim of a tragic road accident in Porto Cervo, during the funeral celebrated this afternoon in the cathedral of Tempio by the parish priest Efisio Coni, after the funeral chapel had been held this morning in the church of the Rosary .

The young woman, who died at 24 after being hit by an SUV on July 8 , was dressed in her grandmother's costume, the traditional one from the Villanova neighborhood of Cagliari. One of the gravestones of Don Coni's homily: "We run and don't know where we're going. We run and don't realize the other is there. Our cars are dangerous. And today Gallura mourns two more young road victims . We are petrified before this coffin . How painful it is to see a daughter, a sister, go to work and not return home. It hurts."

Another passage from the sermon: "I leave you with a wonderful image, Gaia making Sa ramadura before Saint Efisio. Rest in peace, young Gaia, who appeared and disappeared like a thought from God ."

The folk group from Cagliari's Villanova neighborhood and the Tempio district led the funeral procession to the cemetery. Singer Sóleandro played "Savitri" at the coffin, a song Gaia Costa particularly loved .
