The Municipality of Stintino has launched a massive territorial control operation to combat the phenomenon of illegal waste abandonment. This initiative, conducted in close collaboration between the municipal administration and the local police forces, led to the identification of some tourists who, once they left the holiday home, took with them three bags of waste which were subsequently abandoned in the countryside, a few steps away. from the street. The patrol activity, already underway, has led to the identification of those responsible for the serious environmental crime. Inside the bags of household waste there were also boarding passes which allowed the Local Police, in the exercise of their judicial police functions, to identify the offenders and proceed with the complaints.

The abandonment of waste is a crime. The sanctions envisaged are therefore of a criminal nature, demonstrating the seriousness of these actions and the firm will of the administration to combat them with every means available. The mayor of Stintino, Rita Vallebella, declared: «Our Municipality has adopted a zero tolerance policy towards those who litter our territory. We have intensified checks and we are already seeing the first results. Anyone who thinks they can act with impunity abandons waste illegally. These actions not only damage the environment, but also compromise the image and liveability of polluting our streets, our countryside or our beaches, you are very wrong. We will be relentless in prosecuting these crimes, to protect our community and the environment."

In the city, numerous services are available to citizens for the correct disposal of waste, including the municipal waste disposal area and the bulky waste collection service upon reservation. The Local Police has intensified patrols, even in plain clothes, and has implemented the use of advanced technologies, such as video surveillance systems, to identify and prosecute those responsible for these environmental crimes. The commander of the Local Police Monica Zolesi adds: «We are deploying all the resources at our disposal to combat this phenomenon. The collaboration of citizens is fundamental: we ask everyone to be an active part in protecting our territory, promptly reporting any violations."
