They break their bracelets and disappear: the hunt for two bandits in Ogliastra is underway.
One convicted of drug trafficking, the other of murder: this is how, in the space of two weeks, Roberto Arzu and Fabio Fois escaped.Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
They break with nothing. A pruning shear, a pair of pigsty nippers, maybe a grafting knife. You don't need a saw, you don't need force. A single sharp movement is all it takes, and the black plastic tie that should be as good as a prison wall snaps.
This is the blow no one can stomach between Lanusei and Cagliari. Twice in fourteen days. Two men, Roberto Arzu and Fabio Fois, who were supposed to be under state control , instead broke their bracelets and disappeared into the very land that saw them born.
The first name is Roberto Arzu, 59, from Arzana. His escape is doubly significant. He wasn't a common prisoner under house arrest. He was under precautionary measures requested and obtained by the DDA, the District Anti-Mafia Directorate. A measure granted by the investigating judge at the request of the Anti-Mafia Commission, which is now coordinating the search. A measure that, on paper, should have been sealed. He broke it even before his Supreme Court conviction—for drug trafficking—became final. He cut off his bracelet and disappeared. Since October 6th, nothing.
The second name is the one that has kept everyone on tenterhooks since Tuesday evening. Fabio Fois, 62, originally from Loceri but now living in Girasole, was recently sentenced for the murder of Fabio Longoni, which occurred in 2017 near the Niu Abila sheepfold, in the plain below Villagrande Strisaili. Without waiting for the verdict, Fois, defended by Marcello Caddori, fled.
And now the manhunt, in Ogliastra (and beyond), is double.
