The University of Cagliari remembers Veronica Pili, the biology student from Nuoro who passed away at the age of 23 in early August due to illness. She was " well-known among students for her active participation in Ateneika and appreciated for her cheerful disposition," according to a statement from the University of Cagliari, which includes a message from colleagues.
"You came into our lives unexpectedly, with your usual infectious energy, and you became a role model for everyone. You left us at 23, with your whole life still ahead of you, after fighting that terrible disease to the very end with all your might," it reads.
The memorial continues: "You leave behind so many unfulfilled dreams, so many plans, experiences that will never be fulfilled, and a degree just around the corner. You weren't just a colleague, you were a friend and a source of security we could always count on. We will cherish every smile, every shared moment, your special way of being a friend, and all the memories we created together. We will miss you so much, Vero; the Citadel will be empty without you. Every milestone, every degree, every opportunity to see each other again, will also be for you."
