The objectives are: uniformity of care for all Sardinians , because those who live in a small town must be able to benefit from the same path as those who live in Cagliari or Sassari; standard diagnostic, therapeutic and healthcare paths; the right times for each step, from prevention to rehabilitation ; the elimination of bookings via CUP and the intervention of the CAS , which deal with the global care of patients, with all the clinical, psychological, social and administrative aspects.

Thus was born the Bartolazzi regional oncology network, presented yesterday during a conference in Cagliari organized by Federsanità. But the decree appointing the members of the bodies that are part of it is raising a sea of criticism . Because there is a control room, made up of four experts, none of whom are Sardinian . And once again, many are reading in this choice a devaluation by the assessor of the skills of the professionals who work in the hospitals of the island, also recalling that not too long ago, he had defined the Businco (the regional reference center for tumors) "a hologram".

The luminaries in charge are: Paolo Ascierto of the National Cancer Institute Irccs Fondazione Pascale of Naples; Giuseppe Curigliano of the University of Milan and of the Ieo; Michele Maio of the Santa Maria delle Scotte Center of Siena, Paolo Marchetti of the Idi-Irccs of Rome.

In addition to the control room, the Network will be formed by the Cor (the central authority that defines the processes and governs the connections between the different structures of the territory, with the officials of the department and all the oncologists of the Island); a technical operational committee coordinated by Giulia Gramignano (of the ASL of Medio Campidano) and composed of seven doctors: Alessio Cogoni (Hospital Oncology), Francesco Atzori (Pdta), Michele Boero (Diagnostics); Giovanni Caocci (Hematology), Nicola Cillara (Oncological Surgery), Maria Cristina Santona (Reception and Support Centers) and Valeria Pusceddu (Relations with scientific societies); a scientific committee (which supports the Cor in technical and organizational choices, led by Antonio Macciò); a Molecular Tumor Board.
